E4 Youth is a nonprofit organization dedicated to engaging, empowering, educating, and employing young talent of color to foster an equitable future. For over 16 years, we have led creative workforce development in Central Texas, impacting thousands of high school and college-aged individuals through innovative programs like the Creative Leadership Academy (CLA) and Get Creative Enrichment Clubs.

Our goal is to ensure that young individuals are seen, heard, and hired. Through the CLA, college-aged BIPOC youth work alongside industry professionals on our immersive storytelling platform, What Once Was (WOW), enhancing their creative skills and gaining valuable work experience, while high school members of the Get Creative Clubs develop core skills to prepare them for future participation in the CLA.

Position Summary

Digital Docents with an Editor focus are key contributors to E4 Youth’s content development and quality assurance efforts, particularly for the What Once Was (WOW) platform. They will specialize in editing media such as videos and photos to ensure high-quality and engaging content. In addition, they will assist with various editing tasks related to E4 Youth’s projects and support the overall content strategy.

Probationary Period
You will be placed on a 30-day probationary period, during which you will receive training to support you in your role. During this period, you will be compensated at a rate of $16 per hour. After the 30 days, you will be re-evaluated, and your evaluation will determine your placement within our talent bands, which range from $16 to $18 per hour.

Position Responsibilities and KPIs

Content Editing:

  • Video and Photo Editing: Edit video and photo content to meet E4 Youth’s standards, ensuring high-quality visuals and storytelling.

  • Quality Assurance: Review and enhance content to ensure it aligns with E4 Youth’s mission and maintains a high standard of quality.

KPI: Achieve a 90% or higher approval rate on edited content from supervisors and stakeholders, with feedback indicating high satisfaction with the quality of edits.

Digital Platform Support:

  • WOW Platform Maintenance: Ensure that edited content is correctly formatted and uploaded to the What Once Was (WOW) platform, maintaining platform engagement and functionality.

  • Technical Support: Assist with troubleshooting technical issues related to media editing and uploading processes.

KPI: Ensure all edited content is uploaded and correctly formatted on the What Once Was (WOW) platform within 48 hours of completion, maintaining 100% accuracy and functionality.

Social Media and Outreach:

  • Content Support: Provide edited content for social media posts and campaigns, ensuring visual and editorial consistency.

KPI: Provide at least 4 edited media pieces per week for social media use, contributing to a minimum 5% engagement rate (likes, comments, shares) on posts featuring your edits.

Workshop Facilitation:

  • Digital Curriculum: Facilitate workshops with K-12 students, using E4 Youth’s Digital Leadership curriculum to teach digital skills and creative expression.

  • Educational Support: Assist in designing and delivering interactive and educational content to support student learning and engagement.

KPI: Successfully facilitates at least 1 workshop per semester, with 90% of participants providing positive feedback on the effectiveness of the skills taught.

Team Collaboration:

  • Actively participate in weekly meetings with E4 Youth employees.

  • Actively attend networking events to cultivate, maintain, and expand relationships with industry, school partners, and sister nonprofit organizations.

  • Design and implement multiple networking strategies, attending as many networking events as needed to effectively meet marketing and communications goals and KPIs.

  • Participate in and attend all E4 Youth Annual events, fostering connections with key stakeholders, sponsors, and community partners.

  • Attend our annual events, including Showcase, SXSW, Summer Training, and E4 events designed by Corporate Sponsors. Additional events may be added with a minimum notice of 2-3 weeks, reflecting our commitment to growth and seizing opportunities as they arise.

KPI: Attend 100% of weekly team meetings and contribute actionable insights, while also attending at least 2 networking events per quarter and establishing at least 3 new potential partnerships.

Portfolio Development

  • Maintain a high-quality portfolio that is continuously updated.

  • Ensure portfolios maintain a rating of 3 and above.

  • Commit to having your portfolio reviewed by professionals at least 4 times a year.

KPI: Update your portfolio with at least 3 new, high-quality pieces of work every quarter, and maintain a portfolio rating of 3 or above during quarterly reviews, with positive feedback from at least 2 industry professionals each year.

Qualifications

  • College Age: Must be of college age or currently enrolled in college.

  • Online Portfolio, Resume and cover letter: Provide a well-organized online portfolio showcasing a range of editing projects, along with a detailed resume and cover letter.

  • Editing Skills: Demonstrate strong skills in editing, with substantial experience using industry-standard editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or similar tools.

  • Experience in Media Editing: Proven track record in media editing, including video and photo editing, with a focus on visual storytelling, content enhancement, and quality assurance.

  • Storytelling and Content Creation: Solid understanding of storytelling techniques and content creation across various media platforms. Ability to produce engaging and visually compelling content that aligns with organizational goals.

  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with other related tools and software, such as Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, or Lightroom, is highly valued.

Mentoring Experience: Experience in mentoring and coaching younger students is a plus, demonstrating the ability to guide and support others in developing their editing skills.

Position Details
Part-time, 10  hours per week

  • 2 hours for portfolios

  • 3 hours for CLA session

  • 2 hours for WOW session

Compensation
$16-$18 per hour, depending on experience and evaluation after the probationary period
