Up Close & Personal! Street Interviews
How would you feel if a stranger walked up to you asking “what’s your favorite dance? Can you show us?” Well, that’s exactly what we did. This week for YMP our assignment was to practice interviewing for SXSW film recording. We walked across the UT campus and when we stopped someone who looked interesting, we would go up to them and introduce ourselves. Following that, we would continue with asking them our dance question. Some were more than happy to show us their moves, while others not so much. All in all, we interviewed 6 people and recorded their unique dances.
Some of the dances were very new and original. Some were from different cultures such as, old school, traditional German, and Salsa. We of course had some twerking in there too!
I believe this was a great learning opportunity we had today. This activity really helped us improve on our communications skills and working with people outside of our social zone. It also taught us more lessons that will be needed to be prepared with once we reach SXSW.
