Basics & Viewing Images
- Open an image, multiple images, close files-file open, click the x to delete
- Undo something you’ve done – edit > stepbackward
- View workspace panels – Right side (colors are called swatches)
- Using the tools panel – left side
- Zooming & Hand tools – Move picture around. View > Zoom in or Zoom out
Making Selections
- Marquee tools – Shape to be perfect hold Shift
- Lasso tool – outline specific images
- Quick selection – picks one object you want to focus on
- Magic Wand tool – way to select an image quickly
- Inverting selections – select one object and nothing else
- Refining selections – edges clear
- Using Quick Mask mode – select an image quickly
Layers
- Creating a new layer * click the layers tab *
- Changing the layer visibility *click on the eye *
- Deleting the layer * click layers then put in trash*
- Changing the opacity of a layer * go to opacity in the layers bar in move left or right*
- Duplicating a background * go to layers click duplicate *
Enhancing and Retouching Photos
- Cropping a photo * press C for the tool and then click and drag *
- Straightening an image with the Ruler tool * click and hold the eye dropper tool and select ruler then drop draw a line across the picture then go to the top to straightened *
- Using the Smart Sharpen filter * go to filter then click on sharpen then select smart sharpen *
- Adjusting saturation * go to windows click adjustments then click the Hue/Saturation*
- Adjusting brightness and contrast * go to windows; adjustments then brightness and contrast *
- Using neutral density gradient
- Using the Dodge & Burn tools
- Removing red eye * click the red eye tool then make a box around the eye*
- Spot Healing Brush tool & Healing Brush Tool * click the band aid or J then select option then drag over the imperfection *
