Students participate in a series of six day long (8 hours/day, lunch will be provided) boot camps along with weekly assignments in weeks prior to the 2014 SXSW Interactive Festival. Those that complete the boot camp will qualify for SXSW Film & Interactive Gold badges and use portable media devices (iPods, smart phones, digital cameras and tablets) to document and post SXSW activities/perspectives on social media channels in real time. During the workshop series, students will utilize Google Drive and Groups to collaborate and E4 Youth e4youth.org to post blog updates. Then, students will use their newly acquired skills and knowledge to access tools such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest as they share media created during the SXSW Interactive and Film Festival.

More About the Project

E4 Youth, in cooperation with the Black Media Council and MVMT 50, helps students earn access to the 2014 South By Southwest Interactive & Film Festival. January 25 – March 1, 2014, students participate in a weekly series of 6 Saturday training sessions (8hrs/session).  Led by master educators and creative professionals. the workshops focus on team building, critical thinking and content creation skills. Students that complete the series will use digital tools including video, blogs and social media to cover SXSW festival activities in real time.

2013 was the inaugural year of the Youth Media Project. Each year, students focus on team building, critical thinking and content creation as they prepare to be Youth Ambassadors at South by Southwest Interactive & Film Festival. Students blog, create video and social media about festival events in real time.
